How Much Does a Website Cost in India? 2026 Price Guide
By Ideovent Team. Published 2 Oct 2026.
What a business website costs in India in 2026: one-time and monthly prices, the yearly running costs, what changes a quote, and what to ask before paying.
Ask five web designers what a website costs and you will hear five numbers, from a few thousand rupees to a few lakh. The spread is not random. It comes from a handful of decisions you can make yourself once you know what they are.
This guide covers those decisions, the costs that come back every year, and our own prices as a worked example, so you can read any quote line by line. Prices were checked in October 2026.
The short answer
For a small business in India, these are sensible starting points. The figures are ours, as one example of how a studio prices the work:
- A one-page website (a landing page): from ₹8,000, paid once.
- A website of several pages: ₹12,000 to ₹25,000, paid once.
- A website on a monthly plan: ₹899/month + ₹2,999 one-time setup, on a 12-month plan, for a site on one of our ready designs.
- A portal or web app with logins, fee records or bookings: ₹40,000 to ₹85,000, paid once.
On top of a one-time build you pay for your domain and hosting every year. GST is not applicable on our prices: we are not registered under GST, so the price shown is the full amount you pay.
What decides the price
1. How many pages, and what kind
A one-page site that says who you are, what you offer, where you are and how to reach you is the cheapest useful website. Every extra page adds design, writing and testing time. A clinic with a page for each treatment, or a coaching institute with a page for each course, needs more pages than a shop that sells one thing.
2. A ready design or a custom one
A ready design is a layout that already exists, adapted with your logo, colours, text and photos. A custom design is drawn for you, page by page, with rounds of revisions. Custom costs more because the design stage is real work. Both can look professional, so ask to see the design before you pay the balance.
3. Features beyond pages
An enquiry form, a WhatsApp button and a map are standard. A booking form, a Hindi version, a notices section you update yourself or a downloadable fee structure all add time. Logins for parents, students or patients, online payments and stored records are a different kind of project: that is a portal, and it is priced as one.
4. Content: who writes it and who shoots it
Text, photos and translation are the most underestimated part of any website. Many studios, including us, do not include writing or photography: you send the text and photos, and they are put in place. If a quote looks unusually low, check whether it assumes finished text and photos from you.
5. Who builds it
You can build it yourself on a website builder, hire a freelancer or hire a studio: you are trading your own time and risk against money. The questions further down work for all three.
Costs that come back every year
A website is not only a build. Plan for these running costs:
- Domain name. Your web address, renewed every year with the registrar. Register it in your own name, on your own account, and check the renewal price as well as the first-year offer.
- Hosting and SSL. The server your site runs on, and the padlock in the address bar. On a one-time build with us you buy hosting in your own name. On our monthly plans, hosting and SSL are included.
- Business email, if you want it. An address like contact@yourclinic.in. Some providers have a free tier: Zoho Mail's Forever Free plan, for example, covers one domain for up to 5 users with 5 GB of mail storage each, without IMAP or POP access, according to Zoho's pricing page.
- Changes after launch. Fees, timings, notices and photos change. On a one-time site you update the editable parts yourself or pay for help; our care plans start at ₹1,000 a month. Our monthly plans include 2 content changes a month on Starter and 5 on Growth.
- Optional extras. SMS or WhatsApp message credits, payment gateway charges, and local SEO if you want help showing up on Google Maps. Ours is from ₹4,999 a month, and no ranking is promised.
Our prices, as one worked example
| What you get | Price (October 2026) |
|---|
| Landing page: one page with an enquiry form | From ₹8,000, one time |
| Website: several pages and an enquiry form | ₹12,000 to ₹25,000, one time |
| Starter plan: a ready design, up to 5 pages, WhatsApp button, hosting and SSL, 2 content changes a month | ₹899/month + ₹2,999 one-time setup, 12-month plan |
| Growth plan: everything in Starter, plus a page for each treatment, course or service, a booking or enquiry form, a Hindi version and 5 content changes a month | ₹1,999/month + ₹2,999 one-time setup, 12-month plan |
| Portal or web app: records, logins, payments | ₹40,000 to ₹85,000, one time |
First-year totals on the monthly plans: ₹13,787 on Starter (₹2,999 + 12 × ₹899) and ₹26,987 on Growth (₹2,999 + 12 × ₹1,999). One-time projects are paid 50% in advance and 50% at launch, and the custom code is yours on the final payment. GST not applicable: we are not registered under GST. Every package, and what it includes, is on our pricing page.
How to compare two quotes
Put the quotes side by side and ask each provider the same questions. The answers matter more than the totals.
- Is there a written scope, with a list of what is not included?
- How many rounds of revisions are included, and what does another round cost?
- Is the domain registered in your name, on your own account?
- Who pays for hosting, in whose name, and what does it cost from the second year?
- Can you change simple things yourself, such as timings or a notice? If not, who does it, and at what price?
- When do you get the code? On a monthly plan, what is the buy-out price?
- What happens after launch, and for how long are defects fixed free? Ours is 30 days.
- Does anyone promise you a Google ranking? Treat that as a warning sign. Google's own guidance says: "No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google."
Which option fits which business
- Just starting, small budget: a landing page, or the Starter plan if you would rather spread the cost.
- A clinic, school or coaching institute with several services: a multi-page website, or the Growth plan with a page for each treatment or course. See what we include for dental clinics, schools and coaching institutes.
- You need logins, fee records or online payments: a portal.
If you cannot decide between paying once and paying monthly, we compared the two in Monthly website plan or one-time payment, and the plan itself is explained on our monthly website plan page.
Questions people ask
Can I get a business website for under ₹10,000?
Yes. A one-page landing page starts at ₹8,000 with us. On the Starter plan you pay ₹3,898 to start (the ₹2,999 one-time setup plus the first month), then ₹899 a month for the rest of the 12-month plan, ₹13,787 in the first year. A multi-page site with a custom design costs more.
Do I have to pay for a website every year?
For the domain, yes, and for hosting on a one-time build. On a monthly plan, hosting is part of the monthly fee, but you still renew the domain yourself with the registrar.
Why do quotes for the same website vary so much?
Because they rarely describe the same website. Line them up on pages, design, features, content and exclusions. Once those match, what is left is the provider's time and support.
How long does a website take?
A landing page or a small website takes a few weeks of working time. With us the clock starts when the advance has cleared and your text and photos are with us, and each package on our pricing page shows its working weeks.
Want a price for your own site? Send us a message with what you do and where, and we will reply with a written scope and a fixed price. Or start from website options by type of business.
